about

Music For Dreams are proud to announce the release of Jacob Gurevitsch’ new album El Terreno. It is the fourth LP from the Danish guitarist with the Spanish guitar, whose world of misty, Mediterranean romance is charming listeners all over the world.
El Terreno is named after the neighbourhood in Palma, Mallorca, in which Gurevitsch wrote it over the past couple of years. The tranquility and beauty of this setting is reflected in the music: eight songs of Gurevitsch’ Spanish guitar meandering through the cobblestone streets, idling on town squares frozen in the afternoon sun, drifting on the perfumed evening air.
Two special guests feature on the album. On ‘For Your Love’ the legendary Cuban jazz trumpetist Arturo Sandoval is invited to play along. And on ‘Santa Teresa’ the esteemed Danish rock singer Annisette lends her characteristic smoky phrases to the drama.
Throughout the album, Gurevitsch’ Spanish guitar is accompanied by a band of drums, percussion, bass and keyboards.
The release of El Terreno comes after Jacob Gurevitsch’ national tour, which sees him play two sold out nights at DR Koncerthuset on November 1 and 2.

Below is a Q&A with the artist:
What was the writing process like for the album?

JG: The beautiful neighborhood of El Terreno makes you feel like you’re in a movie. The perfect surroundings for me to write. I write my songs in solitude. Picasso once said ’without great solitude, no great work is possible’, and I can very much relate to that.
What are some influences on the music on this album?
JG: To be honest, I don’t know if it makes sense to speak of direct influences. I just make the music the way I like. I listen mostly to jazz. If I should give a song is should be “Cucurrucucu Paloma” by Caetano Veloso.

Describe your collaboration with Annisette.
JG: Annisette is one of the most amazing singers I know. The best singer I have toured with. I played with her band Savage Rose for 3 years, and I’ve always dreamt of making a track with her. Most of all, I am musically attracted of singers with lots of emotion in their expression.

Describe your collaboration with Arturo Sandoval.
JG: My best friend Allan and I have always shared a passion for Cuban music, and very much Arturo Sandoval. He was very sweet and generous in the process, and I am very happy with the outcome.

What’s next for you?
JG: In November I am playing my two largest concerts in DR Koncerthuset, both sold out concerts for 1200 people. I started touring in 2023, witch was a fantastic experience. I was overwhelmed by how many people showed up to my concerts. People flew in from all of Europe to see my show. This has has certainly inspired me to start touring more. I will focus on playing live concerts in 2024, mostly in Europe, but let’s see what happens.

Jacob Gurevitsch Copenhagen, Denmark

Jacob Gurevistch has all his life been friends with guitars.

Since his pre-teens he has been pluggin' jazzguitars, rockguitars, soulguitars and many others into all kinds of amplifiers.
Then the Spanish guitar moved into Jacobs apartment and his life.

This deep friendship has resulted in music with passion from the south mixed with electronic flavours from the north.
